7/7/69 also struck me as a standout show, especially compared to shows the few previous days.
Some of the other highlights of that summer: - very strong Star, lots of country tunes - sloppy and a bad mix, but one of the most jammed-out shows of '69 - very solid show, trying out some new songs - for the Dark Star alone

Runners-up would be 6-22-69 Central Park (mostly in terrible AUD, but some really cool bits), 7-11-69 (poor sound, but great Alligator jam), and 8-28-69 Family Dog (bad mix and a Garcia/Wales show, but lots of jamming). This was a season of often-sloppy relaxing and figuring out a new sound for the Dead, as they veered away from the intensity of early '69, so there's a lot of clumsy tunes this summer, but also many unique experimental shows as new things get tried out.

The 7/12/69 show is worth a mention too, especially the incredible Lovelight from the show featuring an obviously dosed Mickey Hart on a wacked rap & vocal. Bobby does a man on the street interview while Pigpen insists folks "speak into the microphone". A "must hear" version.

The Eleven ain't too shabby either!
